We sat down with Sophie Corness, DMR Liverpool to chat through some of her favourite pieces of jewellery in the first of our ‘Social Edit’ series.
With a year as crazy as 2020 done and dusted, I’m heading into 2021 with a new outlook on life… I’d like to think I didn’t take anything for granted before the pandemic, but let’s be honest, I think we are all guilty of not appreciating the small things. Let’s all try to remember the heat hitting you as you step off an aeroplane into the sunshine or carefree afternoon drinks at your favourite rooftop bar.
If it’s taught me anything, it’s that life is short and it’s important to live yours to the full. 2021 should be the year of treating ourselves! I’ve always been the biggest believer in this (in part due to a slight shopping addiction) but according to a recent article I read, ‘treat yourself jewellery’ accounted for 40% of the market last year, so I’m definitely not alone on this one!
As much as it is lovely to be gifted a beautiful piece of jewellery- I believe jewellery is one of the most thoughtful and special things you can buy for somebody- why should we wait until somebody buys us our dream piece… why shouldn’t we buy it for ourselves? In our showrooms, we often ask “what is the occasion?” but does there really need to be one? I think not…
The yellow gold diamond bangles we featured on @DMR_Jewellery this month are a perfect example – they’re delicate enough to be worn every day, compliment any other style of bracelet and are the perfect way to start building your wrist stack.
When choosing the perfect piece to treat yourself to, I think it’s important to go for something you can see yourself wearing long term. Every day, ideally. For me, I love to stack my jewellery so I would go for pieces that are versatile and interchangeable. I love mixing selections of rose gold diamond earrings, as combined they present a really cool look, but can be individually worn in so many different ways to reflect your own personal style.
Another piece I wear every day is a ring. I love to wear rings on my thumb and index fingers depending on the style, but I mix and match my metals and stack them up for a more playful look. We have so many styles to choose from. One of my favourite ‘treat yourself’ pieces would have to be three-row diamond rings in yellow or rose gold. You’ll very often see me styling these over on my Instagram page, and they are really versatile pieces of diamond jewellery.
I can’t wait until we are able to welcome our clients back into the showroom to treat themselves to beautiful diamonds when we are allowed to reopen our doors. In the meantime, keep an eye out for my posts on @dmr_jewellery and @sophie_dmr_ for inspiration. Get saving those pictures and don’t hesitate to get in touch with any enquiries!
