Red, white and blue, and bearing the insignia of a Commander, OMEGAs latest 007 timepiece honours the Royal Navy. Launched in London this week, the Swiss watchmaker proudly showcased an exclusive new timepiece, celebrating the rank and regalia of James Bond.

In true 007 style, transporting guests along the iconic River Thames by boat, an exclusive announcement awaited guests at the Tate Britain. Known as the Seamaster Diver 300M “Commander’s Watch”, this limited edition piece was launched by OMEGA President and CEO Raynald Aeschlimann, alongside Bond producer Michael G. Wilson.

Featuring three noteworthy anniversaries, 2017 is a significant year for Albert R. Broccoli’s EON Productions and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios (MGM). This year marks the 50th anniversary of “You Only Live Twice”; the 40th anniversary of “The Spy Who Loved Me”; and the 20th anniversary of “Tomorrow Never Dies”. All three films feature the famous James Bond, wearing his official military uniform.

Celebrating these three anniversaries, OMEGA designed this unique timepiece inspired by the red, white and blue colours of the Royal Navy, with the Commander’s insignia revealed on the movement’s rotor, visible through the piece’s see-through caseback. Limited to 7,007 pieces, this stainless steel timepiece is powered by the exclusive OMEGA Calibre 2507. In addition to this steel release, a more limited 18ct yellow gold piece was also announced, limited to seven pieces.

“James Bond is a character with a lot of depth and intrigue. We were fascinated by this connection to the Royal Navy, which is an organisation that OMEGA also has history with, and we wanted to pay tribute to his rank as Commander.”

Raynald Aeschlimann, OMEGA President and CEO.

Following the exclusive presentation of this exciting piece, guests were then introduced to a display of historic props and artwork from the James Bond archive. Since 1995, OMEGA has been the choice of James Bond, when the character first wore a Seamaster timepiece in the film, “GoldenEye”. Since then, Bond and OMEGA have continued to develop their on-screen relationship.
