Baselworld 2015 // Omega Speedmaster The White Side of the Moon
Baselworld 2105 has officially begun. With a flurry of excitement this morning the biggest players in the watchmaking world announced their newest releases, letting the world of haute horlogerie know the trends they can expect to see over 2015.

White Side of the Moon2

Omega’s new Speedmaster The White Side of the Moon is the most recent in a series of watches that push the envelope in watch manufacturing and design. The all white timepiece is made of zirconium oxide ceramic, boasting the engraving “ZrO2” at its center.

The bezel has also been created out of ceramic with a matte chromium nitride tachymeter scale adding a depth the bright white appearance.

You might be thinking that thus far the  material list seems more in place in a chemistry lab than a luxury showroom, the finessing of the piece is what one would expect with 18k white gold hands and indexes giving it the super luxurious edge that the brands clientele are more familiar with.

The watch isn’t dainty by any stretch of the imagination, Speedmaster The White Side of the Moon has a ceramic case of 44.25mm with a thickness of 16mm (caused mainly by the boxed sapphire crystal on both the dial and the movement side of the watch. This is however, the type of watch we can envisage being picked up by the cool girl crowd comfortable wearing a watch that is designed for the big boys.
