Never ones to disappoint with any new releases to their ranges, Patek Philippe’s Baselworld 2016 collection is extensive at best, releasing a staggering 28 new timepieces in their Aquanaut, Complications, Grand Complications, Calatrava Ladies, Aquanaut Ladies and Complications Ladies ranges.
Of course, it would be overwhelming for us to talk about each and every single new watch released by Patek at Baselworld, which is why we’re focusing on some of our utmost favourite pieces to be released.
First up is the Grand Complications 6002G-010. This 18ct white gold addition to the Grand Complications family is simply sublime. The 44mm case is framed by a patterned bezel that evokes images of classic sculptures, and the black enamel dial is brought to life by the white gold indicators, counters and moonphase indicator, as well as the addition of an 18ct golden pattern in the centre. This watch is truly stunning and is also available with a deep blue dial colour.
Next up is the new Ladies’ Complications 4968/400R-001. With a bezel and dial set with 587 diamonds in a spiral formation and the inclusion of 12 ruby hour indicators, it’s not difficult to see why we’re big fans of this watch. This watch is essentially a diamond and glamour fest and that’s just fine with us. The cherry red Alligator strap perfectly complements the 18ct rose gold casing and there are honestly more diamonds on this watch than you can imagine.
The 5396G-014 Men’s Complications watch is a superb example of how simplistic can be powerful. At 38.5mm it might be considered small by today’s tastes but the combination of white gold and gradient charcoal grey dial more than makes up for any discrepancies with size.
First launched in 1997, the Patek Philippe Aquanaut range is a symbol of casual elegance combined with technical perfection. The new 5164R-001 model continues that trend with pride. The rounded octagonal rose gold shape is a mainstay of the classic Aquanaut case, and in rose gold with a brown “Tropical” strap this model deserves its place amongst the iconic family.
