A Record-Breaking Marathon Run

A Record-Breaking Marathon Run
It’s very rare for the busy streets of Central London to be traffic free. But one day each year sees the hustle and bustle of this hectic city, replaced by the silent sprints of the London Marathon.

Regarded as one of the biggest annual marathon events in the world, the Virgin Money London Marathon features timekeeping by a particularly special source… TAG Heuer. As official timekeeper of the London Marathon for the second year, TAG Heuer staged a takeover in London’s Canary Wharf with a visual ‘Crack in the Road’ installation. Leading on from the brand’s ‘Don’t Crack Under Pressure’ philosophy, TAG Heuer’s temporary installation was also broadcast on screens around the world.

The Kenyan runner set the London record for the fastest ever marathon run on a women’s only race at 2 hours, 17 minutes and a second.

Presented by Prince Harry after the race, the winners of each of the elite races was gifted with a TAG Heuer timepiece, with ladies taking home the new style ‘Link’ and for gents an ‘Aquaracer’.
